Gravity Waves and The Spirit World
Fragments of sound, image, text are assembled and performed as a fluid, shifting, system of interconnected, entangled elements. Constructing a sort of ‘Quantum Grammar’, a non-linear, anti-deterministic composition neither predictable nor repeatable. An experimental art practice for the construction and consideration of non-llnear modes of thinking. A ‘denkinstrument’ (thinking tool) for the construction and articulation of thought beyond the limits of language and reason. By rejecting the conceptual limitations of causality and embracing multiplicity and ambiguity we open spaces of potential for alternative ways of perceiving, knowing and being. Divergent modes of thinking that defy the boundaries of conventional logic.
Assemblage as both method and methodology; a process for making and a visual formula for the consideration of ideas through temporal spatial associations. Combining ideas drawn from Aby Warburg, who referred to his unfinished Bilderatlas mnemosene as a ‘Denkinstrument’ (thinking tool): not the work itself, but rather the condition for its emergence. Drawing on Bakhtin (and Gilroy’s) idea of the Chronotope, as a temporal spatial matrix. Dianne Bauer’s concept of “xeno temporality” which considers modes of temporality that become possible beyond the contingency of human perception and Black Quantum futurisms, concept of ‘temporal resistance’.
