“Join an ongoing discussion lead by theorist Dr. Tia Trafford and artist Luke Pendrell, exploring the theoretical movement Speculative Realism and its impact upon contemporary art practice.”

Speculative Tate, was a ten month residency at Tate Britain, developed by Pendrell and Trafford  with Adrian Shaw at Tate Britain to rethink  art and design in the context of speculative politics and philosophy.  Working withOutreach group Tate Collective, three themed Late events were held between March and June in 2016, featuring events and interventions designed to encourage and engage new audiences with the gallery.  The Lates used the gallery spaces to apply the theories and approaches explored in the Speculatirve tate discussions,  experimentally employing a reconfigured aesthetics inseparable from its sociotechnical conditions. Moving image and sound disrupt and violate the galleries, the gallery visitors subjected to simultaneous collages of sound, images and text designed to produce a sensation of technological vertigo, Shifting our perception and in doing so seeking to make visible the normally transparent and invisible.
