Uncertainty Playground was a series of exhibitions, events and podcasts which considered “how design can define, address and make meaning from the ambiguities and uncertainties that we currently face.”
Submerged territories reworked the publication Doggerland , as a multi channel
Stochastic installation.
A large quantity of faded 35mm slides.
Careful examination of this debris began to suggest to us the possibility of notional, obscured territories, spaces both real and imaginary.
Previously unimaginable topographies that seemed to simultaneously inhabit the past, the present and perhaps even the future...
Four screens placed horizontally at floor level randomly plays a selection of unconected slides salvaged from the library archives accompanied by a looped audio montage narrative, the realtionship between images and narrative constantly shifts and reconfigures, in ever shifting combinations. No two viewings are the same, each new configuration conjuring new connections and associations in the mind of the viewer.
The accompanying film shown here in linear form captures just one of these.
